"Disney Counterparts"

"We dance, we kiss, we schmooze, we carry on, we go home happy. What'dya say? Come on." -Hades (Disney's Hercules)

A little bit ago, I was watching Cinderella III: A Twist in Time (again) and noticed that Cinderella is blonde and Prince Charming has ebony locks.
I immediately tied that happy couple together as Jeanelle and Corbin. I thought, "aww, that's adorable!"

But then the realization came to me, "hey... there aren't any Disney heroes with red hair who have brunette girlfriends, huh?"

...And then, I watched Hercules.

Simply put, I was ecstatic. It was a triumphant moment in my life.

"4 New Recipes: Mastered!"

"If a pot is cooking, the friendship will stay warm." -Arab Proverb

On my quest to become domesticated, I've been tackling my greatest weakness: Cooking. Seeing as my mother is a renowned cook, I've always felt a little sheepish that I couldn't follow in her footsteps. I was "renowned" for undercooking, burning, and even forgetting ingredients. Now, I think it's time I stepped up to the plate and hit this sucker-ball right outta the park.**

New Recipe #1: "Smothered Chicken"

New Recipe #4: "Peanut Butter Cookies"

Alright, so these aren't too difficult to master, but for me, these are huge leaps toward success. And you know what? They were kinda fun to make. Maybe I'll make a functional wife someday after all.

"Fickle"

"No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow." -Proverb

Oh for pete's sake, not more snow! Utah just loves to tease me during February and March when winter's melting away and spring's trying to resurrect life.

Double-take... is that sunshine coming out?

Oh, bless me, the sun!

Utah sure has fickle weather. Even though it's gorgeous, I think I'll move back to California!

"Hymn Reel"

video

"Nothing penetrates the human heart as does a personal, fervent prayer and its heaven-sent response." -President Thomas S. Monson

Every hymn is beautiful. I wish I knew all of them! Here are just three of the little beauties: "Because I Have Been Given Much", "The Spirit of God", & "A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief".

Vocals: Me
Lyrics: Respective owners & the LDS Church

When sung with heart, songs come alive. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir is a grand example of that. Hope you like. :)

"Evil Themes"

video

"In the old days, villains had moustaches and kicked the dog. Audiences are smarter today. They don't want their villain to be thrown at them with green limelight on his face. They want an ordinary human being with failings." -Alfred Hitchcock

Ah, Little Butterfly. My novel-in-progress. Since I was the squabbly age of 12-years-old, I've developed this story and its characters little by little. It's been stewing inside me all this time because I never knew how I really wanted to display it. I tried a comic, animation, and even contemplated a movie script, choosing actors and everything. (I still don't think that's a bad idea... :P) Finally, I concluded the best (and easiest) way to bring this story to life is to write it down old school style: Book.

BUT, I can't use only one form of artistry. Consequently, I've composed theme songs for some of my main characters. Here are two of those songs, both dealing with "antagonistic" characters: Shenn (main villain) and Ekibosha (Shenn's plunky minion).

As a side note, I'm more in love with Shenn than the "love interest" I created for my heroine. That's not really supposed to happen. Maybe I should work on character development a little more...

I've created the main theme song as well, but I still want to tinker with it some more before presenting it to the public. For now, enjoy!

"Twenty Months to Do Something Important"

"...stands out as if among a herd of cows someone placed a firmly-built horse with ringing hooves, a prize winner from winged dreams." -Alcman (7th century; chorus excerpt for Spartan women)

This time, I'm determined. We girls (and guys, as well) have all tried weight loss at one point in our lives. New Year's resolutions, summer diets, etc. Yet, one thing seems to be inevitable: we lose the water weight and perhaps a couple of fat pounds, but never anything significant. We get discouraged, busy, and wait until after the winter holidays to pick up the pieces and try again. I only have twenty months left before Elder Studly comes home. I need to finish this "single life" with a bang and have something to show for it.

Here's what I want to become in those twenty months:
  • More Japanese-literate (i.e. a full-blown translator.)
  • 6" smaller (horizontally, not vertically.)
  • Cardio-healthy (i.e. I can climb Mt. Timpanogos at a regular, healthy pace.)
Not too ambitious for twenty months! It'd be ridiculous if I tried to do this in only three or four months. I'll be patient and leave room for mistakes, but ultimately, I will achieve those goals. Good luck to me! がんばれ!
